Use this checklist to evaluate the health of your business bookkeeping.


🔹 Transactions

* All income and expenses are recorded
* No duplicate or missing entries
* Consistent and correct categorization
* Receipts and invoices are saved and organized



🔹 Banking

* All bank and credit card accounts are linked
* Accounts are reconciled monthly
* Outstanding checks or deposits are reviewed


🔹 Reports

* Profit & Loss Statement is current and accurate
* Balance Sheet matches actual bank and liability accounts
* Cash Flow Statement is available and reviewed regularly


🔹 Payroll & Contractors

* Employee payroll is properly recorded
* Contractor payments are tracked for 1099 reporting
* Payroll taxes are filed and paid on time


🔹 Sales & Invoicing

* Customer invoices are issued promptly
* A/R aging is monitored (no overdue surprises!)
* Sales tax is tracked and filed as needed


🔹 End-of-Year Readiness

* Books are ready for your CPA or tax pro
* No uncategorized or “Ask My Accountant” entries
* Prior year is closed and locked
